Commitment to Prevent Forest and Land Fires, PT TSB Collaborates with Government and Local Communities in Joint Fire Preparedness Drill

Kutai Kartanegara, PT Tritunggal Sentra Buana (TSB) reaffirmed its commitment to preventing forest and land fires (known as Karhutla) by organizing a two-day joint fire preparedness and training event on September 25–26, 2025. Held in Saliki Village, Muara Badak District, Kutai Kartanegara, this activity strengthened collaboration between the company, government agencies, security forces, and surrounding communities.

The event involved cross-sectoral participation, including representatives from the East Kalimantan Provincial and Kutai Kartanegara Regency Plantation Offices, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Muara Badak Police and Subdistrict Office, as well as local governments from three nearby villages (Saliki, Salo Palai, and Muara Badak Ulu) and farmer group representatives.

The series of activities began with a fire suppression training session led by instructors from the Kutai Kartanegara Fire and Rescue Department. Participants—consisting of PT TSB’s firefighting team, Masyarakat Peduli Api (Community Fire Awareness Group), and farmer representatives—received practical guidance on fire prevention, firefighting techniques, and equipment familiarization.

On the following day, all teams’ readiness was tested through a joint fire preparedness drill. During the event, PT TSB also socialized its corporate policy on fire prevention, including the implementation of the No Deforestation, No Peat, and No Exploitation (NDPE) policy.

PT TSB Estate Manager Fuad Hamdi emphasized that synergy is the key to successful fire prevention. “PT TSB is fully committed and does not tolerate any burning activities. However, effective prevention requires strong collaboration between the company, government, military, police, and local communities,” he stated.

Appreciation was expressed by Ir. Asmirilda, M.P., Head of Sustainable Plantation Division at the East Kalimantan Provincial Plantation Office, who highlighted that forest and land fires not only harm the plantation sector but also threaten ecosystems and livelihoods. “We appreciate PT TSB’s proactive initiative. This kind of collaboration is crucial to minimizing fire risks. We hope all parties remain consistent in carrying out their roles—from early prevention to quick response in the field,” said Asmirilda.

As the highlight of the event, all stakeholders in attendance signed a joint commitment declaration to prevent forest and land fires—symbolizing the strengthened cooperation and shared responsibility to protect the environment from future fire threats.
