KPN Plantations Extends Aid to Flood Victims in West Kalimantan
West Kalimantan, Floods that have hit several regencies and cities in West Kalimantan since mid-January 2025 have not fully receded. More than hundreds of thousands West Kalimantan residents have been affected. The West Kalimantan Provincial Government has even imposed a flood emergency status for one month until February 24, 2025.
Responding to the flood disaster, a number of entities under KPN Plantations, namely PT WKN (Wawasan Kebun Nusantara), PT IBP (Intitama Berlian Perkebunan), PT PANP (Perkebunan Anak Negeri Pasaman), PT SAM (Sentosa Asih Makmur), and PT SUM (Sumatera Unggul Makmur) participated in alleviating the burden on communities affected by the floods in West Kalimantan. Food assistances have been distributed to several affected villages, including Darit Village and Meranti Village in Landak Regency, as well as Kumba Village, Seluas Village, and Bengkawan Village in Bengkayang Regency.
Symbolic handover ceremonies have been carried out at several points. In Darit Village, the assistances were received directly by the Village Secretary at the local village office. Meanwhile, in Meranti Village, the handover of assistance were carried out directly to the Village Head and witnessed by the Regional Government.
Focus on Isolated Areas
Food supplies such as: instant noodles, rice and eggs have been distributed to several affected villages. This assistance is invaluable for communities facing difficulties in accessing basic necessities due to the floods.
"The situation is quite concerning. The water level reached 2 meters, making road access only possible by boat. We, along with volunteers, have distributed food supplies." said Kornelius Arif, Representative of companies.
The floods that hit also impacted the company's operations. Access to one of the estate was even reported to have been cut off due to the flood.
The disaster that occurred in West Kalimantan is a reminder of the importance of mutual cooperation and caring for others. KPN Plantations invites all parties to continue to work hand in hand in helping communities affected by disasters and rebuilding areas affected by disasters.
