Palm Oil Companies in Kubu Raya Enhance Infrastructure and Strengthen Fire Prevention Efforts through CSR Initiatives
Kubu Raya - PT Putra Lirik Domas (PT PLD) and PT Sumatra Unggul Makmur (PT SUM) continue to implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Kabupaten Kubu Raya, Kalimantan Barat. These initiatives demonstrate the companies’ commitment to supporting local communities and safeguarding the environment surrounding their operations.
Among the key initiatives are road maintenance, forest and land fire prevention, and river rehabilitation. According to Suhardi, Manager of PT PLD and PT SUM, road improvements have been carried out along key routes in the Rasau Jaya and Sungai Kakap sub-districts.
The upgraded roads include Ayani Tiga Road in Rasau Jaya Umum Village, Secondary C Road in Rasau Jaya Tiga Village, Bintang Mas Dua Road in Bintang Mas Village, Bintang Mas Empat Road in Pematang Tujuh Village, and Parit Delima Road in Punggur Kecil Village. These improvements help ensure smoother transportation and support the efficient movement of agricultural produce, contributing to local economic activity.
Beyond infrastructure, the companies are actively engaged in preventing forest and land fires. Martin Luther, Public Relations representative of PT PLD and PT SUM, explained that the companies assist in fire suppression efforts and have provided water pump equipment to several neighboring villages.
They also conduct training sessions for local Community Fire Awareness Groups (Masyarakat Peduli Api/MPA) to strengthen early detection and response capabilities. In addition, river cleaning and dredging activities are undertaken to help mitigate flooding risks during the rainy season.
The impact of these CSR initiatives has been positively received by the community. Usodo, a community leader from Bintang Mas Village, shared that improved road conditions have significantly enhanced mobility, particularly for transporting agricultural products, which in turn supports local livelihoods. He also noted that the companies’ presence has created employment opportunities for residents.
Through these ongoing efforts, PT PLD and PT SUM reaffirm their commitment to collaborating with local authorities and communities to promote sustainable development in Kabupaten Kubu Raya, Kalimantan Barat.
