Strengthening Community Economic Independence, PT ACP and PT APM Launch Integrated Pig Farming Program

Merauke – As part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility and sustainable operations, PT Agriprima Cipta Persada (ACP) and PT Agrinusa Persada Mulia (APM) continue to strengthen community empowerment initiatives within their operational areas in Merauke Regency, Papua.

One of the key initiatives currently being implemented is the Integrated Pig Farming Program combined with Horticulture, designed to support the development of a sustainable and community-based integrated farming system. The program serves as a practical learning and training hub for local communities in Muting and Ulilin Districts, focusing on integrated livestock and agricultural practices.

This initiative is a continuation of a long-standing community empowerment partnership between the companies and local indigenous clans (marga), which has been in place since 2012. The program was further developed and technically refined in 2021, through close coordination with the Papua Provincial Livestock Agency, ensuring that the program aligns with local conditions and best farming practices.

In 2025, the program entered a critical implementation phase with the introduction of a livestock revolving scheme, under which pig breeding stock was distributed to community groups. A total of seven indigenous clans in the operational areas of PT ACP and PT APM received support in the form of one male and one female pig per clan, serving as the initial foundation for sustainable livestock development.

According to Sapto Indrianto, SSL of PT ACP and PT APM, the revolving livestock scheme is designed to foster a sense of ownership, responsibility, and independence among participating communities.

“The distribution of pigs through a revolving scheme reflects the company’s commitment to ensuring the long-term sustainability of community empowerment programs. Through this approach, we encourage each clan to manage and develop their livestock activities independently and responsibly,” Sapto explained.

By integrating pig farming with horticulture, the program promotes a circular and environmentally friendly farming system. Livestock waste is utilized as organic fertilizer for crops, while agricultural outputs can be used to support animal feed. This integrated approach not only creates added economic value but also strengthens the capacity of local human resources in managing efficient and sustainable agribusiness practices.

Through this initiative, PT ACP and PT APM reaffirm their commitment to growing alongside local communities, delivering long-term positive impacts, and supporting the development of economic self-reliance in Papua.
