Developing a Sustainable Model Village, PT GAN Launched Second Livestock Group in Rees Village

KUBU RAYA, November 15, 2025 – PT Graha Agro Nusantara (GAN)’s commitment to growing together with surrounding communities was once again demonstrated through the expansion of its Community Empowerment Program. On Wednesday (November 12, 2025), PT GAN officially launched a new fostered livestock group, Kelompok Ternak (KT) Kandang Basote, in Dusun Rees, Kuala Bakung Preparatory Village, Sungai Ambawang District.
This launch marks the second phase of the integrated pig farming development program initiated by the company in 2024. It also reinforces the company’s vision to position Dusun Rees as a model area for “Integrated Pig and Horticulture Farming.”
One of the program’s key achievements is the creation of group self-reliance. During the launch of KT Kandang Basote, which consists of 10 members, a livestock revolving mechanism was implemented. Three pigs produced from the breeding activities of the first fostered group, KT Pahayaman Dulakng Talino, were officially handed over to the new group.
This demonstrates that the initial support provided by the company—consisting of six piglets, livestock pens, feed subsidies, and a sago chopping machine—has been well managed, growing to 15 pigs by November 2025, and is now beginning to benefit a wider segment of the community.

General Estate Manager of PT GAN, Jerry K. Siregar, emphasized that the company’s focus is on maximizing community product potential from upstream to downstream.
“We consistently support programs that aim to improve the welfare of communities around the company. In addition to the integrated pig farming program, we are also exploring the development of kratom cultivation empowerment. We see these as very promising potentials,” said Jerry.
Beyond livestock development, PT GAN also collaborates with the Kubu Raya Regency Plantation and Livestock Service to add value through appropriate technology. As part of the event series, a technical guidance session (Bimtek) on processing livestock waste into organic fertilizer was held, along with animal health socialization.
The objective is to create an integrated farming ecosystem. Livestock waste is processed into fertilizer for horticultural land and alternative feed, while agricultural products such as cassava, taro, and sago are reused as high-quality livestock feed.
Setiawan, a representative of the Kubu Raya Plantation and Livestock Service, expressed his appreciation for the initiative.
“This CSR program has great potential because it is supported by local resources. Its economic value is high, and feed materials are readily available in the surrounding environment,” he stated.
The program is designed not only to increase residents’ economic income but also as part of the company’s environmental strategy. By creating viable alternative income sources, the program supports No-Burn Land Clearing (PLTB) initiatives and the protection of conservation areas surrounding the Sungai Ambawang Protected Forest.
Hermanto, Chairman of KT Pahayaman Dulakng Talino, conveyed his appreciation for the tangible impact felt by the community.
“Thank you, PT GAN. This program strongly supports community needs, considering that pork consumption is quite high for traditional ceremonies and religious holidays,” he said.
With strong synergy between the company, government, and the community, Dusun Rees is now one step closer to becoming a productive and environmentally friendly self-reliant model village.
